NTU RANKS THE BEST UNIVERSITY OF TAIWAN

On Jul.4, Global Views Monthly, in cooperation with a professor from National Taiwan University, issued the 2017 Taiwan University ranking. The list was made based on indicators such as university's reputation, and academic achievements. The top five universities this year were the same as those of in 2016. Chang Gung University, number 7 this year, is ranked as the best private university in Taiwan.

According to Global Views Monthly's 2017 ranking of Taiwan's best universities, National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Yang-Ming University were ranked the top five universities this year. Chang Gung University, which only ranked tenth last year, is the seventh best Taiwan university in 2017. The university is now the best among private universities in Taiwan.

We offer better support for teachers to do academic research. Therefore, the university is able to achieve good results for academic research.

Chang Gung University got higher marks on academic research and degree of internationalization this year due to an increase in the number of academic articles published. Among the top ten universities, four focused on medical education. However, on a global scale, compared with last year's ranking, some of them got a lower rank in the UK's 2016-2017 QS World University ranking table issued in June.

==HSUEH FU-CHENG President, National Chung Hsing University==
An overall view of the world university ranking table suggested that there is a declining trend in Taiwan's top university rankings. I think that the government should think about in what academic fields, Taiwan can achieve better performances to compete with the world.

Among the 102 Taiwan universities in Global Views Monthly's ranking table, only 39 are public universities. 18 of the 39 public universities were among the list of top 30 universities. When looking further into the universities' location, higher education in Taiwan appears to suffer from unbalanced regional development.

==TAI CHANG-HSIEN President, National Pingtung Uni. of Sci. and Tech.==
The high tech and electronics industries are centered largely in northern Taiwan. Southern Taiwan, where agriculture is the main industry, is at a disadvantage when it comes to promoting lab results to the industry. However, our school is able to provide a good platform for trial production and make connections to industry.

The ranking was made based on indicators such as reputation, academic achievements, teaching and degree of internationalization. The ranking table may serve as a reference for universities to improve their performances in the future.
